Johnny Depp_Johnny Depp Talks About His Mid-Air Brush With Death_ His latest movie the Rum Diaries took in just £3million in the opening weekend.
And the film isn’t the only thing to take a nose-dive as Johnny Depp has revealed he was nearly in a plane crash.
The actor, 48, has spoken out about a near-death flight he took with director Bruce Robinson.
Johnny revealed the details of the scary flight to Life magazine.
He said: ‘The plane just shut down. The sound of the engines stopped.
'There was silence. Bruce and I were looking at each other and I think I said, 'Is this it?' It was like this weird extended moment when you're just floating for a second and you could feel this unpleasant descent.’
‘Nobody said a word except for Bruce and I, sitting next to each other saying, 'Oh s***! This is death, I guess this is how it goes down.’
But despite the terrifying flight Depp saw the funny side and explained:
‘Then we burst into hysterical laughter at the idea that this was how we were going to die.’
He added: ‘I guess you could say that was a big bonding experience for Bruce and me. For a moment there, we were going down together.’
The plane isn’t the only thing flopping as the pair’s new film The Rum Diaries has failed to live up to expectations.
Not only did critics slam the film, which cost £35million to make, but the film took in just £3million on its opening weekend.
Producers hoped Depp's wide appeal and Hunter. S Thompson's cult status, Depp’s character in the film, would help the film take £7million on its opening weekend.
