Man drops serious weight to win bet

Man drops serious weight to win bet, In May the poker world heard the news about a new crazy prop bet between Ted Forrest and Mike Matusow. Forrest was offered more than 13:1 if he could drop his weight from 85 kg to less than 63 kg (weight loss of 50 pounds) in just over two months. The bet was settled on July 15 at the Pavilion room in Rio, with a very lightweight Forrest stepping up to the scale.

The result: Forrest and his gray boxer shorts weighted 62.6 kg, same as 138 lbs., so the man, or what was left of him, made it. His reward: 2 million dollars from Matusow and Justin Smith who also had some heavy (pun intended...) action on the bet. Forrest had to stake $150,000.

It goes without saying that it wasn't easy, and the poker author Michael Craig, who covers the story on Full Tilt Poker, describes the sight of Forrest as "disorienting and alarming". He looked like a stick figure in his taut skin, apparently after a really dangerous 11-day "last sprint": he hadn't eaten practically anything and apparently drank just enough to keep him alive. It's no wonder that the first thing on his mind after the weighing was a glass of water.

Forrest's girlfriend Pui, longtime friend Tibor and coach "Karate Mike" Santoro explained that the feat was accomplished through a strict exercise program and diet but without any dangerous drugs.

Forrest's earlier death-defying stunts include running 24 miles in 110+ heat - that's 38.6 km and more than 43 degrees Celsius.

Hopefully it's the last time we hear about a prop bet like this one.
