Urban meyer ohio state
Urban meyer ohio state, ESPN is reporting that Ohio State has contacted former Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer, and that there is strong mutual interest in him becoming the next Buckeyes coach. But Meyer on Saturday refuted reports that he has accepted the Ohio State job.
"There's no truth to that," Meyer said Saturday in the broadcast booth at the Nebraska-Michgican game, where he is working for ESPN. "I know it's that time of year. I've not been offered any job, and I've certainly not accepted any job."
Meyer, an Ohio native, began his stellar coaching career as a graduate assistant coach for Ohio State in 1986.
He resigned as Florida's coach on Dec. 8, 2010 to spend more time with his family.
Meyer, 47, won 104 games and two national championships in 10 years with the Gators, Utah and Bowling Green.
Meyer is at the top of everyone's list, and he hasn't given an indication that he plans to stay at ESPN for the 2012 football season. He issued a statement in May in response to rumors that he would take the job at Ohio State after Jim Tressel's resignation.
"I am committed to ESPN and will not pursue any coaching opportunities this fall," Meyer said in that May statement. "I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the people at ESPN this spring and remain very excited about my role with the network this fall."
That doesn't preclude Meyer from coaching next season, and many close to him believe he will coach again.
After Tressel's resignation, the NCAA sanctions the Buckeye's face surely seemed enough to deter Meyer at that time.
