Madonna super bowl set list
Madonna super bowl set list, Madonna's camp has released a tentative set list for the singer's Superbowl halftime show. According to comments on Huffington Post, fans have either had a lukewarm reception or obvious disgust. Suffice it to say, the response has been a mixed bag of sorts. While her reported selections aren't terrible choices, we can't help but wonder if alternate songs might make more of an impact. See how these hits match up…

Song #1: "Give Me All Your Love"
Possible Replacement
: "Hung Up"
Ok, I know this is a new single that she's trying to promote. It seems that the more Madge records, the brighter her pop sound becomes. In light of pop culture's Harajuku-inspired musical personas, this might not be a bad thing. But a song like "Hung Up" (released in 2005, and again as a 2009 greatest hit) would be perfect for this venue. It's energetic and funky and could easily be played by a marching band.
Song #2: "Ray of Light"
Possible Replacement
: "Deeper and Deeper"
I totally get the frenzied, electronic pacing of "Ray of Light" as a viable selection. But her 1992 hit "Deeper and Deeper" could also capture that party feel. It's also an uptempo track where you can more distinctly hear Madonna's voice.
Song #3: "Vogue"
Possible Replacement
: None?
Ok, so "Vogue" happens to be an excellent choice for the Superbowl. It's fun, and everybody can do it, sort of like a more sophisticated Macarena. It also happens to be one of the Material Mom's most popular songs, prompting more remixes than one deems humanly possible. However, if we simply had to pick another song, "Express Yourself" is an anthem we could get behind.
Song #4: "Music"
Possible Replacement
: "Don't Tell Me"
Somehow images of strippers, furs, and thongs will be embedded in the minds of those who remember the video for this song. "Music" is definitely a happy tune. Fortunately, the pop diva has others. In fact, "Don't Tell Me" (and its cutesy cowboy theme) would be a safer option for Superbowl fun.
Song #5: "Holiday"
Possible Replacement
: "Lucky Star/ Holiday (Medley)"
So, this is actually not a bad choice either, seeing that "Holiday" was the most popular single on Madge's debut album in 1983. But just for nostalgia's sake, it would nice to see her launch into a cutesy version of "Lucky Star" and then ease right into "Holiday." Similar tempos, two-for-one.
