Melted crayons Jesus
Christ has appeared in toast, Cheetos and on the side of a cliff, but one Missouri woman says she found Jesus in an unexpected place: her son's crayons.
Tara Gomez was recently melting crayons with her son before she encountered the image, KSHB reports. She placed the mixture to set in the freezer, pulled it out and found Jesus' face among the swirls of color."I'd been praying and praying about certain things, and I asked God for a sign, "Gomez told KSHB News.
While some might call Gomez's sighting a bit outlandish, researchers say there's an explanation.
The human brain looks for familiarity in abstract objects, turning meaningless lines and squiggles into meaningful images of animals or persons, MSNBC reports.
In 2004, a woman who claimed she found an image of the Virgin Mary on her grilled cheese sold the sandwich on eBay for a whopping $28,000, according to the Associated Press.
But Gomez plans on keeping the melted creation for herself, KSHB reports.
Photographs of religious images in unlikely places have even been compiled into a book titled, "Look! It's Jesus: Amazing Holy Visions in Everyday Life."
