Johnny Depp favorite actor _ Who is your favorite actor --Johnny Depp or Denzel Washington? It depends on whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, according to the latest Harris Interactive Poll.
Depp, who lives in France and is known for playing a range of quirky characters that include the pirate Captain Jack Sparrow, was the favorite of Republicans and Independents.

Denzel Washington, an avowed Christian who filmed The Book of Eli – a story about trying to bring the Bible back to a post-apocalyptic world -- was the favorite of Democrats.

Nationwide, Depp was the favorite, Washington was number two, Clint Eastwood was number three and Tom Hanks was number four.

But John Wayne, who has been dead for 32 years, was the fifth most favorite actor of Americans, according to the Harris Poll. Wayne is the only actor to have been on the Favorite Actor List since it began in 1994.
The Duke, who was number three last year, was a staunch conservative who once won plaudits for arriving in a tank at the liberal bastion Harvard, for an award from Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Club.

Rounding out the top 10: George Clooney was number six; Sandra Bullock, who is the only woman in the top ten, dropped to number seven; Harrison Ford was number 8; number 9, after a two year absence is Will Smith and at number 10 is comic Adam Sandler.

In terms of demographics – men overwhelmingly chose Clint Eastwood, women chose Johnny Depp. Depp was the favorite among every demographic from age 18 to age 65 – but George Clooney took top honors among mature Americans aged 66 and older.

The poll was conducted online within the United States between Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 among 2,237 adults (aged 18 and over). Figures for age, sex, race/ethnicity, education, region and household income were weighted where necessary to bring them into line with their actual proportions in the population.
