New Girl Scout Cookie

New Girl Scout Cookie, Meet Savannah Smile. She’s cool and crisp, bite-sized and lemony, and dusted in powdered sugar—and at the end of the week Girl Scouts across America will be knocking on doors and selling this all-new cookie.

Girl Scout Cookie season is about to swing into full gear with young scouts starting to take orders on January 7 (the actual cookies don’t arrive until February). To mark the Girl Scouts’ 100-year anniversary the organization is introducing a new treat, Savannah Smiles.

These cookies, described in the sales guide as “bursting with zesty lemon flavor,” are inspired by the organization’s founder Juliette Gordon Low who was born in Savannah, Ga.

The cookie is half-moon shaped like a lemon wedge and the “Brownie Smile.” (Every Brownie knows this song: “I’ve got something in my pocket, it belongs across my face…”).

Will these tangy bites beat out Thin Mints, which are the typical top-seller? Yes, lemon is lovely but it’s hard to imagine the Savannah Smile winning over chocolate. And of course, we all know Girl Scout Cookies taste a lot like sweetened cardboard but when you’ve been working in the office for six hours and a co-worker pulls out a box of Thin Mints, a Girl Scout Cookie tastes downright delicious.
