Rob Lowe Tweets Peyton Manning Is Retiring, Actor Rob Lowe ignited a rumor on Wednesday via his Twitter account that Indianapolis Colt’s star quarterback, Peyton Manning is going to retire rather then return to football.

Lowe who might have an insight of the Colt’s team, due to the fact he is actually friends with the team’s owner, Jim Irsay, believed he had a good source on the info.

Lowes’ tweet read, “Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL.”

Adding, “Wow. #Colts…My people are saying Manning will retire today. What do you hear? Colts fans, let’s hope my info is wrong. Don’t like being wrong, but this time… I’m hoping.”

Well, after getting ‘Rob Lowe’ and ‘Peyton Manning’ as two of the top trending topics on Twitter, it appears Lowe’s info was wrong after all . Both Manning’s father and his agent shot down the rumor.

Archie Manning laughingly told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, “He ain’t retiring. I think he would’ve told me.”

While Peyton’s agent, Tom Condon told the NFL network when asked of the rumor, that it was the first he heard of it.

There has been speculation about Manning’s future with the Colt’s nevertheless, after missing the entire 2011 season due to a neck injury that didn’t heal correctly. The Colt’s were so bad without Manning they earned the number one 2012 draft pick, wear projected superstar quarterback Andrew Luck is expected to be taken. The Colt’s also fired their head coach Jim Caldwell this week.
