Leslie Carter, Sister of Nick & Aaron, Dies at 25, Singer Leslie Carter, the sister of Aaron Carter and Backstreet Boys/NKOTBSB singer Nick Carter, was found dead Tuesday in upstate New York. She was 25.A publicist for the family, which starred on E! reality show "House of Carters," confirmed the death but provided no other details Wednesday.
"Our family is grieving right now and it's a private matter," the Carters said in a statement. "We are deeply saddened for the loss of our beloved sister, daughter and granddaughter, Leslie Carter."
According to MTV, the Chautauqua County Coroner's Office announced that an autopsy was inconclusive. Coroner Richard Mackowiak said there were no visible signs of trauma to Leslie Carter's body and that his office is awaiting toxicology tests to determine what caused the death.
If made public, it could take four to six weeks for those results to surface.
Sources close to the family told TMZ that she was struggling with prescription medication addiction and had moved from Canada to live with family in western New York. After being left alone in the house for an hour to run errands, sources claimed family found her unconscious of a possible Xanax drug overdose when they returned.
ABC reports Leslie Carter is currently at a funeral home in Mayville, approximately 70 miles south of Buffalo. A funeral has been scheduled for next week in western New York.
She appeared on all eight episodes of the 2006 reality show "House of Carters," which starred Leslie and her four siblings: Nick, Aaron, Bobbie Jean (B.J.), and Angel. The show focused on the entertainers' attempts to revive their careers and reconnect as a family.
Nick, the oldest in the family, announced Wednesday that he would be continuing his current solo tour and dedicating the performances to his sister in tribute. Younger brother Aaron, who had a top 40 hit with "Aaron's Party (Come Get It)" in 2000, said he was temporarily pulling out of his off-Broadway show "The Fantasticks" to be with family.
While her brothers may have had more fame, Leslie had some success as a singer herself. According to Rolling Stone, she had a song called "Like Wow" on the soundtrack to the 2001 movie "Shrek," and also recorded an unreleased album for DreamWorks in 1999.
The 25-year-old Carter leaves behind her husband of three years, Mike Ashton, and a 10-month-old daughter, Alyssa Jane.
