Shakira was attacked by a sea lion while on holiday, she has revealed., The 'Hips Don't Lie' star was enjoying a vacation in Cape Town, South Africa when the animal leapt out of the water and tried to bite her after mistaking her mobile phone for a fish, says The Sun. The singer claimed that the sea lion had "roared in fury" when it launched itself at her, and suggested that she would have been killed if she hadn't been saved by her brother 'Super Tony'. This afternoon I happened to see some sea lions and sails. I thought how cute they were so decided to get closer than all of the other tourists and went down to a rock," she wrote in a blog on her Facebook profile. "Suddenly, one jumped out of the water so fast that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me."

“This afternoon I happened to see some sea lions and seals. I thought to myself how cute they were so I decided to get a bit closer than all of the other tourists and went down to a rock trying to pet them doing a baby talk while taking pictures,” Shakira wrote. “Suddenly, one of them jumped out of the water so fast and impetuously that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me.”
“I believe what happened is that it confused the shiny reflection of the blackberry I was taking these pics with, with some sort of fish,” she added. “It probably thought I was teasing it with food and then taking it away from it.”
Shakira went on to add that she plans to turn these events into a song, tentatively titled “Shakin Those Hips Ya!”
The star, known for her hits such as “Whenever, Wherever” and “Hips Don’t Lie,” took to Facebook on Sunday to dish that a sea lion attacked her while she was on an adventure tour in Cape Town, South Africa, last weekend.
Shakira said she was moving closer to where some seals and sea lions had gathered near the rocks along the shoreline to take photos with her Blackberry phone when the incident happened.
“Suddenly, one of them jumped out of the water so fast and impetuously that it got about one foot away from me, looked me in the eye, roared in fury and tried to bite me,” Shakira wrote on her Facebook fan page.
“Everyone there screamed, including me. I was paralyzed by fear and couldn’t move, I just kept eye contact with it while my brother ‘Super Tony’ jumped over me and literally saved my life, taking me away from the beast.”
Shakira said she and her brother both scratched their hands and legs on the rocks as they tried to get away from the animal. She posted a photo of her injured left hand on her Facebook page.
The singer said she thought the sea lion lunged at her because it was attracted to the sunlight reflecting off her Blackberry screen.
“I believe it confused the reflection of the BlackBerry phone I was taking pics with, with some sort of fish. It thought I was teasing it with food,” she wrote.
Shakira continued the adventure tour and posted on Twitter Sunday that she later spent some time with penguins.
