Transformers 4 michael bay
Transformers 4 michael bay, “Steven Spielberg and I are working on a whole new reimagining of Transformers, the fourth installment. We have been working on the idea for a few months. I’m excited about where it’s headed,” Michael wrote on his official site on Monday evening.
Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed Bay’s involvement to MTV, and announced a release date of summer 2014.
“Yeah Michael’s gonna direct and it’ll be releasing in the summer of 2014,” said Bonaventura. “We’re excited and I think the challenge there is we really are gonna do a reboot, and what that’s gonna be we don’t even know yet.”
Seeing as the Transformers franchise has always been a massive money-spinner for Bay (Dark Of The Moon made $1bn worldwide), it’s not difficult to see why he’d be tempted to return for a fourth round of robots beating the crap out of each other.
That said, both 2009’s Revenge Of The Fallen and last year’s Dark Of The Moon received a critical drubbing, which is perhaps why the mega-director has decided to give the franchise a refresh.
We can probably count series regular Shia Labeouf out, then, so expect a new lead and a shiny new set of Autobots for the franchise that refuses to die with any dignity.
Back in December, director Michael Bay wasn't sure if he will return to direct Transformers 4, with his primary focus on Pain and Gain. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura confirmed today that not only is Michael Bay returning as director, but that they are aiming for a summer 2014 release. Here's what Lorenzo di Bonaventura had to say below, also confirming that Transformers 4 will be more of a reboot.
"Michael is going to direct it, and it will be in the summer of 2014. He's a cool customer. He's excited and I think the challenge there is we really are going to do a reboot. What that's going to be, we don't even know yet."
The producer also shot down rumors that Jason Statham is being eyed to star in Transformers 4, and clarified what he meant by a "reboot."
"It's a hybrid. I'm not involved with (The Amazing) Spider-Man, but what I perceive Spider-Man to be is a redoing of the whole thing. This is not. It's an evolution. There's still a continuity that's going on, and yet, there will be a lot of new cast members. Whether there's anybody from the first cast, we don't even know yet, but the truth is, it's going to be a whole new story. The characters that will certainly come along will be Optimus and Bumblebee, I'm sure."
First, though, Michael has confirmed that he is working on a black comedy set in Miami called Pain and Gain - Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson are starring.
