Digger the tallest horse drinks 25 gallons of water a day, TOWERING over a stable mate, Britain’s tallest horse enjoys the open air as he fights to get in shape for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Despite tipping the scales at a whopping 145 stone, Digger - stationed with the Household Cavalry in Hyde Park Barracks - still needs to bulk up before the glittering spectacle in June.
However, Mounted Regiment officer Alex Owen has every faith the nine-foot-high Clydesdale, who eats up to four stones of food per day and guzzles 25 gallons of water, will make the grade in time.
“It is hoped he will be able to take part in the jubilee celebrations, however, he needs to put on more weight to be able to carry his silver drums.”
It takes 18 months to train a Drum Horse and once they pass out they will be given the name of a Greek God.
Previously Digger shared the title of Britain’s tallest horse with shire Duke, who has since passed away.
