Rancic's surprise baby party, Three days after Giuliana Rancic announced that she and hubby Bill are expecting their first child via a surrogate, the E! News host, 37, received a surprise baby party at her Los Angeles office.

"We waited for a good 10-15 minutes for G to come into the conference room where everything was set up," an attendee tells PEOPLE. "In true G fashion, she was on the phone until the very last minute we all yelled, 'Surprise!' "

Once inside the gathering thrown by her assistant, Rancic's colleagues were treated to baked goodies. The treats included cakepops, mini-chocolate cupcakes and red velvet cake.

"There were baggies to put mini-chick candies in to take home, and lemonade in jars with striped green straws in them," the source adds.

Just don't call it a shower. The attendee says it was an informal party to congratulate her. A formal shower will be held later.

Rancic re-Tweeted a photo of herself putting her hands over her mouth in surprise, with accompanying text to her assistant and coworkers that said, "Luv u girl & my amazing @ENews family :)). I was shocked!"

And her E! News team loves her just the same.

"A baby is a miracle to ANY family!" one of Rancic's producers, Brigiite Valadez, Tweeted. "All the staff here is so happy that [Giuliana] and Bill will FINALLY have their miracle!"
