Romney SNL:Mitt Romney Open to 'SNL' Appearance
Romney SNL:Mitt Romney Open to 'SNL' Appearance_ Mitt Romney, live from New York? The current frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination has been invited by "Saturday Night Live" creator Lorne Michaels to make an appearance on the show, and Romney is considering it, the New York Times reports.
"He was funny on Letterman, giving the Top Ten list," "SNL" writer Jim Downey told the Times, referring to Romney's December appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman."
On the show, Romney said the words, "What's up, gangstas -- it's the M-I-double tizzle."
Reps for "SNL" and Romney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Jason Sudeikis has been portraying Romney on the show, mocking his often stiff demeanor. In one skit, Sudeikis' Romney got "raw and unleashed" ... by unbuttoning his suit jacket. On Saturday, the show featured the cast playing Romney and others in the presidential campaign singing Green Day's "Good Riddance" and reminiscing.
"There's a creepy youth minister kind of squareness to him, especially combined with that goofy eagerness to please," Downey told the Times about Romney.
Downey also addressed the possibility that Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig, who portrays Ann Romney, might leave "SNL" just as the candidates hit their most mock-worthiness in the fall.
"I'm sure they would stick around for the pre-election shows," Downey told the Times.
