william todd arrested on roof of opryland hotel cooling tower,A Kentucky fugitive was arrested Sunday on the roof of the powerhouse/cooling tower behind the Opryland Hotel.
William C. Todd was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, theft of cab services and being fugitive of justice out of Kentucky.
Officers had been called to the Opryland property just after 11:45 a.m. after a taxi driver reported a man refused to pay him and threatened him with a knife. Opryland security witnessed what happened and following the suspect as he fled on foot to the powerhouse/cooling tower.
Officers climbed the ladder on the side of the powerhouse. Todd was located inside a water pit, and was disarmed by officers.
The Nashville Fire department assisted in removing Todd from the roof with a basket and ladder truck.
He was taken to the hospital to be checked out for recent heroin use.
Police said Todd is also a primary suspect in several overnight crimes including the robbery of a man and the attempted robbery of several of his friends just after 3 a.m. as they walked on Lafayette Street after leaving a nightclub; the burglary of the Slaughter House haunted house attraction on 6th Avenue South; and the carjacking of another cab driver at Murfreesboro Pike & Fesslers Lane.
More charges were expected against Todd.
His bond was set at $180,000.
