Suspect leaves trail for police, He didn’t show up for court on attempted homicide charges, was located by police and then allegedly started throwing packages of marijuana while running away.Altherelle T. Robbins, 31, of the 1600 block of S. Memorial Drive, is now back in custody.
He was wanted on a warrant for not making a courtroom status conference on May 2. He had been released on a $3,000 signature bond less than two months prior.
On Monday, Racine police saw Robbins standing in front of a house in the 1600 block of Edgewood Avenue. Knowing he was wanted, officers approached him.
Robbins allegedly ran from police, throwing several packages of marijuana while he fled. Officers caught him and recovered 3.9 grams of marijuana, which appeared to be packaged for resale, according to the criminal complaint.
Robbins was charged in June of 2007 with attempted first-degree intentional homicide, first-degree reckless injury and possession of a firearm by a felon. He is accused of a shooting at Rosie’s Bar, 1333 Douglas Ave. that injured owner Rosie Carothers and her son Dionte Cobb.
According to the criminal complaint in that case, Carothers was shot in the hand and Cobb was shot in chest.
Robbins was also shot twice during the incident, in the chest and right hip, when Cobb returned fire, according to reports.
Robbins is being held in the Racine County Jail on a $20,300 cash bond. Online court records say he is due back in court Wednesday.
