Kim Kardashian Divorce: $250K for Each Day of Marriage
Kardashian filed for divorce Monday. The filing comes after a wedding that earned an estimated $18 million.
“I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision," Kardashian said in a statement. "I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best."
The short-term marriage became an instant rallying cry for gay marriage advocates, who noted that heterosexuals are allowed to wed willy-nilly, when they can't marry for life.
For anyone opting to believe the marriage was real, and not a money-grab, E! released the following statement: "All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time."
The network airs the rash of Kardashian shows.
Kardashian was uncharacteristically quiet on Twitter early Monday. Her tweets included only -- get this -- a promo about a new store her family is opening.

Perhaps she was busy weeping. Or counting.
In addition to free champagne, wedding cake, and invitations, the couple received $15 million for a four-hour, two-part E! Entertainment wedding special, "Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event," produced by Ryan Seacrest. They also reportedly received $2.5 million from People for their wedding photos.
