Real-life 'Breaking Bad' in Boston, It's a real-life story seemingly taken from the plot of "Breaking Bad": A college professor who taught at two Boston universities has been charged with running a meth lab out of her home with her son, reports the Boston Globe.


Irina Kristy, 74, will be arraigned later this month on charges of distributing meth, conspiracy to violate the drug law and drug violation in a school zone, the story says, citing the Middlesex District Attorney's Office.

Kristy and her son allegedly operated the lab out of their home in Somerville, a neighboring town to Boston, just 500 feet from Somerville's city hall and an elementary school, the piece adds.

Kristy has been a full-time lecturer in the math department at Boston University since 1987, where she taught three courses each semester, the story says. She has been placed on administrative leave at Suffolk University, where she served as adjunct faculty, the piece adds.

"Breaking Bad" follows a cancer-stricken high school chemistry teacher who turns to making meth as a way of securing financial stability for his family.
