According to L.A. Reid, Chairman and CEO of Epic Records, a new album by Fiona Apple will be seeing the light of day very soon—within weeks, apparently.
“Lot's of good music coming from @Epic_Records in the next few weeks,” the music mogul posted to Twitter on Sunday. “Stay tuned music fans. Welcome back Fiona! #BeEpic”

News of a new album began circulating as early as 2010, making many believe that 2011 would be the Apple’s year back in the spotlight—we were almost certain ourselves that she would be putting out one of the most anticipated albums of that year.
Unfortunately, 2011 came and went, but Apple did clue fans in on a very interesting fact: the album has been finished for quite some time. This time, however, it was not her fault (previously, with 2005’s Extraordinary Machine, it came to light that Apple called for an overhaul of the entire record, thus pushing its release back and subsequently causing somebody to leak the demo version early).
With news that the album was finished, it then pushed us to think that one way or another, be it through a leak or an eventual physical release, Apple’s latest work would indeed see the light. Not long after the entire internet began to talk about it did Reid pull through, confirming that Apple was the Fiona in question.
Though no official release has been announced, fans are speculating a spring release with a single as early as February or March. If Epic Records and Reid are smart, with the album already complete, there is no sense in waiting—everybody’s been itching for their Fiona fix. Sure, she’s been performing bluegrass covers at Largo recently, but what musical direction do you think she has gone in on her new venture?
