Garth Brooks lawsuit hospital
Garth Brooks lawsuit hospital _ Country music star and Oklahoman Garth Brooks is expected to appear in a Rogers County courtroom Tuesday over a lawsuit involving a $500,000 hospital donation and his mother's name.
The Yukon-native is suing Integris Canadian Valley Regional Hospital for breach of contract. In 2005, Brooks donated half a million dollars to his hometown hospital to honor his mother. Colleen Brooks died in 1999 of cancer.
Brooks said in court papers the hospital even presented mock-ups of buildings bearing his mother's name. But the singer said three years later, the hospital notified him it was spending the money, but not would not name a building addition after his mother.
Brooks asked the hospital to return the money, and the hospital refused. Attorneys for the hospital contend Brooks' donation was "anonymous and unconditional."
