Tom Hanks Mourns Dog’s Passing, Actor Tom Hanks has been receiving a quite a bit of condolence wishes through Twitter after he reported he was mourning the loss of his favorite pet, an all white German Shepard named Monty.

After the death of Monty last week Hanks Tweeted, “Monty. Deep brown eyes, noble demeanor, finest dog ever. A sad day. Goodbye Big Boy. Hanx,” along with a picture of the dog.

Afterwards, a wealth of condolences came in via Twitter. One read, “One of the hardest things in life is losing a beloved pet. I am sorry for the loss of Monty, he was a great dog. One day you will be re-united with him, but until then he’ll be always be with you in your heart and in your thoughts. God Bless, Mr. Hanks.”

While another read, “Sorry for your loss, Tom, you had a fine looking dog.”

One fan suggested Hanks get another dog as soon as possible to get over the loss by writing, “Great looking dog. Thanks for sharing his photo! The best way to honor him, I’ve read, is to get another dog.”

Among his long list of movie roles, Hanks has won 2 Academy Awards for Best Actor, in 1993 for Philadelphia and in 1994 for Forrest Gump.
