Texas warrant round-up

The Plano Police Department is part of a multi-jurisdictional warrant round-up coordination that started Feb. 13. Individuals with outstanding warrants are encouraged to resolve their cases prior to Feb. 24. Starting Feb. 25, individuals will be arrested at their homes, work and around town and brought to jail to address their outstanding warrants. Local Southeast Texas Police Departments are offering people with outstanding warrants a 2 week grace period prior to the enforcement phase of the Great Texas Warrant Round Up scheduled to begin February 21 – 24. Officers will be using new license plate scanning equipped cruisers that are able to check peoples plates for warrants, so if you have outstanding warrants be sure to contact your local authorities and get it taken care of before the grace period ends. Some of the police departments participating in the roundup will be Beaumont, Port Arthur, Nederland and Groves among others.

Last year’s Great Texas Roundup results released by the Beaumont police department stated that they ran 16,000 license plates with 54 hits in an 8 hour period, 81 defendants went through the municipal system with 172 warrants being served just on the first day of the 2011 Great Texas Warrant Roundup. People paid about 53,000 dollars in outstanding fines between March 4 to March 7 and there were 1,305 views on the warrant page and 2,346 views on the payment website from March 1 to 6.

Representatives of law enforcement agencies and courts from more than 250 jurisdictions across Texas announced that they have combined efforts to host the third annual Great Texas Warrant Roundup beginning Saturday, March 6.

The roundup is designed to target thousands of defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher charge warrants from participating jurisdictions. It is believed to be the largest joint operation of its kind with arrests expected to continue for several days.

Hundreds of thousands of notices were recently mailed statewide by participating entities.

Numerous counties, justices of the peace, constables and municipalities of all sizes will participate in the roundup.

Affected persons are urged to contact the McAllen Municipal Court at (956) 972-7900 to dispose of their cases voluntarily to avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest at home or work in front of family, friends or co-workers.
The Corpus Christi Police Department is joining forces with more than 200 law enforcement agencies across the state to take part in the annual Great Texas Warrant Round Up.

The round up will officially begin Saturday, February 25, 2012. But Tuesday, the first set of warrant round up defendants were loaded into CCPD van for transport to the Nueces County Jail.

If you currently have an outstanding warrant you can take care of it at the Corpus Christi Municipal Court before February 24, 2012 and possibly avoid getting caught up in the round up.
