Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth

Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth_Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli were the ultimate Hollywood couple. With their 11-year marriage and three daughters, they appeared inseparable and even referred to themselves as “the Facinelli Five.”
But that seemingly perfect image has been shattered. Facinelli filed for divorce on Wednesday — citing “irreconcilable differences” — two weeks after the couple announced their separation.
They have asked for joint custody of their three daughters, daughters, Luca, 14, Lola, 9, and Fiona, 5.
Garth, one of the stars of “Beverly Hills, 90210″, told People magazine that Facinelli, who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the “Twilight” film series, asked her for the divorce. She didn’t want it.

“I tried everything I could to save our marriage … I was very resistant. I didn’t want it to happen,” Garth, 39, said of the split.
As his star rose with the success of the “Twilight” films, Facinelli, 38, found himself more famous than his wife.
“It appears that maybe the fame affected him differently than it affected her during the prime of her career,” People magazine’s Kate Coyne told “Good Morning America.”

Garth admitted to the magazine that the marriage had its share of problems.
“There was jealousy over having to see your husband on screen with another woman,” she said. “It wasn’t always easy. It wasn’t always fun.”
Despite therapy, the marriage fell apart. Garth admits that it’s hard for her, and said she wished Facinelli “had wanted to try harder, try again, try something else.”
As she approaches her 40th birthday, she’s finding it hard to cope with the change.
“I’ve never been this stressed in my life … I’m suffering from anxiety now. It feels like an elephant is sitting on your chest,” she said.
Facinelli and Garth met on the set of the TV movie, “An Unfinished Affair,” in 1996. They were wed in 2001.
The two and their therapist broke the news of the split to the children.
“Jennie actually couldn’t do any talking,” Coyne said. “Peter and the therapist did most of the talking and Jennie just held her daughters while they cried . Jennie was just too overwhelmed with sadness, with emotion… she was literally speechless.”
