Anthony Mason $2.07 million taxes

Anthony Mason $2.07 million taxes_In the state of Wisconsin, former NBA player Latrell Sprewell has managed to secure the No. 1 spot of a well-known Top 100 list with more than $3.5 million.

That might be great if it's earnings or even charitable contributions. Instead, Sprewell is No. 1 on the Top 100 delinquent taxpayers list, owing the state $3,533,426.49 in back taxes, just shy of $1 million more than the No. 2 person in the state.

Notably, Anthony Mason, another former NBA player, holds down the No. 3 spot on the delinquent taxpayers list. He owes the state $2,070,061.26.

Sprewell, who played for the Warriors, Knicks and Timberwolves over 13 seasons, is a Wisconsin native. Mason played for six teams in his career, making almost $18M over four years after finishing with the Milwaukee Bucks.

TheBigLead.com, via basketball-reference.com, noted that the while the money the players owed to the state is substantial, it's just a fraction of what they made during their playing careers. Mason made over $45 million and Sprewell, who once famously turned down a three-year, $21 million contract offer at the end of his career because he had "a family to feed," took home around $97 million.

Local reports and government information indicate the "Web Site of Shame" launched in 2006 and was designed to, "embarrass scofflaws into paying their overdue taxes." The website collected $17 million in back taxes in 2010, which is more supporters were hoping to get, but far short of the $759 million on the list who still owe money.
