Lenny Kravitz + Hunger Games_Rock star Lenny Kravitz is already feeling the love from a new crop of fans - enthusiasts of "The Hunger Games."

The movie is based on a popular book series by Suzanne Collins and hits theaters on March 23. The characters live in a post-apocalyptic North America, which is now called Panem. The Hunger Games are an annual televised event put on by the government in the Capitol, where a boy and a girl from 13 districts fight to the death.

The books already have a fan following that may end up rivaling that of "Twilight" and "Harry Potter," whose movie franchises has made well over $1 billion. In "The Hunger Games," the first story out of a series, Kravitz, 47, plays Cinna, the stylist of heroine Katniss Everdeen, portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence.

"The fans of 'The Hunger Games' the book are very passionate," Kravitz told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "They want to see their move done correctly. Trust me. It's funny, even at my concerts, there are people holding up Cinna signs. It's quite uncanny."

This is the second on-screen acting role for Kravitz, who made his debut in the 2010 movie "Precious" and previously provided a voice of a baby in "The Rugrats Movie" in 1998. The singer has won four Grammy Awards for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance for his hits "Fly Away," "American Woman," "Again" and "Dig In."

Lawrence rose to fame after earning an Oscar nomination for her role in the 2010 movie "Winter's Bone" and co-starred with Kravitz's daughter Zoe in the 2011 film "X-Men: First Class." The younger Kravitz, whose mother is "The Cosby Show" actress Lisa Bonet, played the winged mutant Angel Salvadore, while Lawrence portrayed Raven, aka Mystique.

"Jennifer is beautiful," Kravitz told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "She's a great actress. She's a beautiful human being and that shines through all of her roles. I've been a fan since I saw 'Winter's Bone' and I got to know her personally when my daughter brought her home because they did 'X-Men' together. But I think she has such a bright future."

Woody Harrelson, who plays former Hunger Games winner-turned-coach Haymitch Abernathy, also praised Lawrence.
"She really connects to the true line of the character," he told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "She's in almost every frame in the movie. She really has to have that emotional continuity throughout and that build. She's a major talent."
