Single mom Bridget Moynahan found out she was pregnant with Tom Brady's baby two months after they had parted ways in 2006. And to add insult to injury, her ex moved on with one of the most intimidating women in America -- supermodel Gisele Bundchen. But despite their public drama, Moynahan says she's happy to put the past behind her.
In the new issue of More magazine, cover girl Moynahan, who turns 40 this April, opens up about life as a single mom and her relationship with her NFL star ex and his new wife. The actress says she, Brady and Bundchen have done their best to create a loving environment for their son, John Edward Thomas.
"I never made a comment about Gisele or Tom publicly," Moynahan says. "I have a relationship with these people on a daily basis. I'm raising a child, and it's public. The media creates these dramas, and that's not what's happening in my life."
In fact, Moynahan says she's embraced all of the people in her child's life. "My son has two loving parents and an extended family, whether it's cousins or stepmothers or boyfriends. My son is surrounded by love."
Still, Moynahan admits that being a single mother is hard on her at times -- like when she gave birth without Brady.
"(Tom) was not in the (delivery) room," says Moynahan. "He was there on that day and came in afterwards. He certainly wasn't holding my hand while I pushed."
Moynahan relied on her parents to get her through the transition to motherhood, and she remembers "hyperventilating" with anxiety at the thought of them leaving her alone.
"Every time my dad mentioned he had to go (home to Massachusetts), I'd start crying," she says.
Moynahan admits she may feel defeated at times and doesn't think "any girl grows up dreaming of being a single mom." But she's found her peace being a mother to John.
"There's not a second I regret having a child on my own," she says.
