Famous British poets,Famous British poets have been a major part of English and world literature ever since the time of Geoffrey Chaucer. There are however, several great poets who have written in English who are not British, such as the great Irish poets William Butler Yeats, Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett; or the American and Anglophone poets.
