Queen Latifah Denies Coming Out—Academy Award winning actress ,Queen Latifah has recently denies comig out as Lesbian at Gay Pride. Queen Latifah was not trying to make a statement at the Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride event last week. The Joyful Noise actress said attending as Grand Marshall at the festival does not mean she came out as a lesbian.
Queen Latifah has been added to join the cast of Lifetime’s version of the feature film, Steel Magnolias. She is joining the star-studded cast for Lifetime’s all-African-American Steel Magnolias reboot as M’Lynn, the character played by Sally Field in the 1989 feature film of the same name.
Condola Rashad will play her diabetes-stricken daughter, Shelby (played by Julia Roberts), and Rashad’s mother Phylicia will reinterpret the role of Clairee (portrayed by Olympia Dukakis).
Queen Latifah is no stranger to acting, but a phone call she recently received with an offer from producer Craig Zadan shocked the star, as she learned there were plans to remake “Steel Magnolias” with an all-black cast.
While the original film took place in Georgia and production on the update begins next month in Atlanta, the film itself will take place in Louisiana. Very few details have been released about how the “contemporary” update will revise the original material but network heads are projecting a premiere later this year.
The actress said, “I know that the most important thing and the only thing I have to give is love. When people are going through hatred and bullying, the biggest thing to fight that is love,” she says. “So that’s all I encouraged my audience to do that night: to share their light and share their love. Period.”
Queen Latifah‘s sexual orientation has been under a microscope ever since she has been rumored to be a lesbian.
Last month, The Queen hosted the Long Beach Lesbian & Gay Pride event where she was quoted, saying: that she was “proud to be among her people.”
