World’s Best Fireworks Displays, Bridges will close, boats will launch and tents will go up as Southwest Florida prepares for the oohs and ahhs of fireworks on Fourth of July. Communities in Lee and Collier counties have scheduled a full complement of fireworks shows with a range of options from where to watch the pyrotechnics.

Many of the venues offer preferred or VIP seating, some at a premium price.

For example, the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce’s Red, White and Boom fireworks show has a VIP area with two tents, one air-conditioned, as well as food and drink and a front-row seat for the booms. All you need is $100.

Bob Knickman, the chamber’s special events director, said most people simply find a good spot in the downtown area or along Cape Coral Parkway.

“The show can be seen from all over. Anyplace in downtown Cape Coral is a good place,” he said. “I like to watch it with a crowd of people so you get the vibrations and the oohs and ahhs.”

Knickman also said a prime spot to watch the 9:30 p.m. show is from a boat in the Caloosahatchee. “There are usually so many boats watching the show that you could walk across the river,” he said.
