Stefan Heidenreich, the new CEO of Nivea's parent company, Beiersdorf - thinks Rihanna and Nivea have different sets of values. Namely, Rihanna is sexy and controversial, while Nivea is a wholesome and family-focused brand. In a statement to a German newspaper Heidenreich remarked, "The advert starring Rihanna was a no-go. I do not understand how to bring the core brand of Nivea in conjunction with Rihanna. Nivea is a company which stands for trust, family and reliability."
