Larry Hagman, who died on Nov. 23 from throat cancer, had filmed six episodes of remake’s second season prior to his death. Hagman played the dastardly, conniving J.R. Ewing on the original “Dallas,” which aired from 1979 until 1991. Larry also appeared as Major Anthony Nelson on “I Dream of Jeannie,” which co-stared Barbara Eden, in the 1960s.
Hagman is remembered by his “Dallas” co-stars as a “giant, a larger-than-life personality whose iconic performance as J.R. Ewing will endure as one of the most indelible in entertainment history. He truly loved portraying this globally recognized character, and he leaves a legacy of entertainment, generosity and grace.”
Larry Hagman was the son of Broadway legend Mary Martin. Hagman is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Maj Axelsson Hagman, a daughter Heidi and a son Preston.
