The controversy began on Tuesday in Perth, Australia, when a very precise customer, identified as Matt Corby, ordered a Foot Long Sub and then pulled out a tape measure. Corby found that the sub ​​measured just 11 inches long and not the 12 inches as it should. so he took his outrage to facebook, where he posted a picture of his Sub next to the tape measure on the company facebook page with the caption: "subway please respond.”

A New York City based research found the issue to be more the rule than the exception.
