Man Returns $42K-A man returns $42k after finding it in a backpack at the South Bay Mall in Dorchester, Mass. The man, Glen James, is homeless and really could have used the cash -- but without thinking twice about it, he knew that he needed to turn the money in. On Sept. 16, MSN reported that James was honored by Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis who personally thanked James for his honesty.

"Even if I were desperate for money, I would not have kept even a penny," said James. He said that he has been homeless since 2005 but keeping someone else's money wasn't something that he was willing to do to better his life.

The man returns $42k story broke locally yesterday but people all over the country are learning about Glen James' story today. Commissioner Davis presented him with a "special citation" and made him feel really good about choosing to do the right thing -- something that isn't always easy, especially when there's cash involved... and cash there was!

"The backpack contained $2,400 in U.S. currency, almost $40,000 in traveler's checks, Chinese passports and other personal papers. The man who lost it told workers at a Best Buy store at the mall. He was taken to the police station, where he was confirmed as the rightful owner," MSN reported.

The man returns $42k and says that he's "very well looked after" at a Boston-area shelter. He also says he's thankful for people who give him spare change and help keep him going through the year.
