Am I ugly new YouTube trend disturbing--A new alarming trend has gone viral on YouTube where young girls questioning their beauty and looking to be validated by even by those they don't know.

The YouTube phenomenon has young girls aged 9 to 14 asking other users whether they're pretty or ugly, and approximately 500,000 of these videos have been uploaded on the site, the New York post reported.

The comments that follow these videos are disturbing as some users have suggested these girls to hurt themselves, while others have picked features that they could fix.

The current trend of social media, the Internet and people's perception has fuelled the younger generation's obsessing with their looks which comes from insecurity and need to be validated.
