Colby Curtin granted wish to see movie--Colby Curtin, a ten year old girl suffering from vascular cancer, died 7 hours after being granted her last with – to watch the Pixar movie Up. Read more and see photos and video here.

The ten year old had gotten progressively worse since 2005, but much like any ten year old, she wanted to see the new Pixar movie Up.

Colby had seen a preview of the movie, which tells the story of a cranky old man who, after his wife’s death, tries to fulfill their joint dream of visiting South America by tying thousands of balloons to his house and floating away.

Colby Curtin was completely fascinated with the movie, however she was too ill to make it to the theater. A family friend called Disney and Pixar, and Pixar kindly sent an employee to Colby’s house with a DVD copy of the movie for a private screening.
Colby’s mother, Lisa, said Colby told her,

“I’m ready (to die), but I’m going to wait for the movie.”

Lisa said, “When I watched it, I had really no idea about the content of the theme of the movie. I just know that word ‘Up’ and all of the balloons and I swear to you, for me it meant that (Colby) was going to go up. Up to heaven.”

Colby Curtin died seven hours after being granted her final wish to watch Pixar’s “Up”.

How sad, so was so young and beautiful. Our deepest condolences to Colby’s family.
