Penn St. QB hospitalized
Penn St. QB hospitalized _ The Penn State football program has made plenty of news off the field in the last month-and-a-half and the trend continued this weekend when quarterback Matt McGloin reportedly suffered a seizure and was hospitalized after a locker-room fight with teammate Curtis Drake.

McGloin's father, Paul, told The (Harrisburg) Patriot-News that octors told him his son was treated for a seizure at Mount Nittany Medical Center on Saturday and likely sustained a concussion. He was released from the hospital the same day.

Drake and McGloin got into a fight after practice, according to multiple reports, and Drake was said to have punched the quarterback.

McGloin suffered the seizure when his head hit the ground, his father told the Patriot-News. Results from a CT scan and MRI were negative, Paul McGloin told the paper.

The Nittany Lions were preparing for their Jan. 2 matchup against Houston in the TicketCity Bowl.

McGloin wasn't the only Penn State quarterback to have off-the-field issues this weekend, according to a report. Backup Rob Bolden is unable to play in the bowl game, is contending with a "minor" legal issue, sources told Scout.com's Penn State site.

Bolden was involved in an off-the-field incident Friday evening, the sources told the website, though he practiced with the team Saturday.

The depth drops to walk-on Shane McGregor if the Lions' top two quarterbacks are sidelined. McGregor has played in one game.

—-Adewale Ojomo had hoped to get a sixth year of eligibility in a rare way, but the NCAA denied the Miami defensive lineman, according to the Miami Herald.

Ojomo had missed the 2009 season with a broken jaw after a teammate sucker-punched him in the locker room during the preseason. But Ojomo was basing the request for an extra year of eligibility on his true freshman season of 2007 when he redshirted, according to the paper.

Ojomo started seven of the Hurricanes' 11 games this season and switched to defensive tackle from end halfway into the year. He had 1 1/2 sacks, 3 1/2 tackles for loss and 19 tackles overall.

—- Wyoming is expected to finish up the paper work to formally retain football coach Dave Christensen early this week.

Christensen, whose team was routed by Temple 37-17 in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday, will receive a five-year deal, according to the Laramie Boomerang.

Wyoming went 8-4 this season with a 5-2 record in the Mountain West, finishing behind TCU and Boise State.

In his three seasons with the Cowboys, Christensen has led the team to an 18-19 record and two bowl appearances.

—-Defensive coordinator Mark Stoops is reportedly staying put at Florida State.

The Tallahassee Democrat, citing a pair of university sources, reported Stoops was not leaving FSU for Auburn or any other school.

Stoops' name had surfaced in reports around Auburn that he was a favorite to replace defensive coordinator Ted Roof.

Stoops had also reportedly drawn interest from Akron as a head coach.

Despite reports that he's already decided to hit the NFL draft, Oregon running back LaMichael James again insisted he has not yet said he would go pro.

"I don't want to make a decision or an announcement right now," James said, according to The Register-Guard. "My future is irrelevant right now. Come Jan. 3, then it will be relevant. Then my season will be over. But I owe it to my teammates and my fans and the coaches to think about (the Rose Bowl) right now, and that's my most important goal right now."

—-Daphne (Ala.) running back T.J. Yeldon said in a statement Sunday that he has de-committing from Auburn and has committed to rival Alabama.

"Over the last few weeks, I've really put a lot of time and thought into where I want to go to school and continue my football career. I am blessed to be in a situation where I have several great opportunities and I appreciate everyone involved who has helped me get to this point," Yeldon said in a statement issued to the media. "I want to make an announcement so I can put this behind me and get to work on the things I need to do to prepare for college both athletically and academically. I am going to enroll at the University of Alabama in January"

Nothing is official until players sign a letter of intent in Febrary.
