Food stamp ban sweetsA Fla. senator is pushing committees in Tallahassee to ban buying sweets and snacks with food stamps.

The bill would require the program to teach food stamp recipients about healthy eating. Storms also said she wants the program to teach people how making their own products at home is cheaper than store-made.
Critics of the bill feel that the government shouldn't tell people what to eat.
Rep. Gwyndolen Clarke-Reed said that the bill demeans minorities and the poor by implying they aren't smart enough to make their own food choices.
The bill is moving through committees.
