J.K. Rowling paid $2 million for Killiechassie House (PHOTOS); has 20 chimneys, medieval burial ground. Children's author J.K. Rowling may not have always been wealthy woman, but she's sure learned how to live like one.
With the success of her Harry Potter series of books, and soon to be released adult books, this famous author's rags-to-riches story has landed her in a magical 19th-century riverbank mansion.
It has also earned her the title of first female billionaire author.
Last year, Rowling purchased the house next door for about $1.5 million and plans to knock it down to create a Renaissance-style garden, say reports.

The author and her family moved into an 1865 mansion, Killiechassie House, situated on the banks of the River Tay near the Scottish town of Aberfeldy, which they paid a reported $2.75 million in November 2001.
The home boasts 20 chimneys and a medieval burial ground on 162 acres of land. Killiechassie House also offers has a principal bedroom suite and six further bedrooms, with outer and inner halls, a drawing room, morning room, dining room, library, kitchen and various bedrooms and dressing rooms.
The house also has its own small loch, said to contain a murderous water sprite. More details here!
Her childhood home in Church Cottage, in Tutshill, Chepstow, was put on the market for £399,950 in 2011.
