National Peanut Butter And Jelly Day

National Peanut Butter And Jelly Day_When we started thinking about fundraising we were hoping it could coincide with a holiday. There’s a National Fruit Compote Day (March 1st), National Clams on a Halfshell Day (March 31st), National Fun with Fondue Month (November) and even National Coconut Torte Day (no, seriously, I couldn’t make this up). So while searching for a holiday that would get people in the jam spirit we decided on April 2nd, National Peanut Butter & Jelly Day.

Rod Stewart, the grave digger

Rod Stewart is the youngest of five children and was born in Highgate, North London to parents who owned a newsagents shop there. Minutes before Stewart was born, a German V-2 rocket scored a direct hit on Highgate Police Station just down the street. Rod Stewart had trials with the football clubs Celtic, and Brentford (based in West London). He then worked as a grave digger. He soon switched to a career in music joining folk singer Wizz Jones in the early 1960s as a street singer travelling around Europe; this resulted in his being deported from Spain for vagrancy.

Facebook study + only 5 percent of power users in all four activities

Facebook study + only 5 percent of power users in all four activities, Facebook Study Only 5 Percent Of Power Users In All Four Activities, Facebook users like to get more information than they give on the world’s leading social network, according to a small Pew Internet Project study. The question is how Facebook can boost user engagement beyond just power users.Facebook’s IPO will newly mint many millionaires, but many of the social network’s 845 million users can’t be accorded the same largesse.
The majority of Facebook users receive more from their Facebook friends than they give, according to new information from the Pew Internet Project, which only counted from a small pool of 269 respondents who agreed to release their activity data.
For example, while 63 percent of users surveyed received at least one friend request, only 40 percent of those users owned up to making a friend request. Also, users clicked Facebook’s ubiquitous Like button on their friends’ content on average of 14 times, yet had their content “Liked” an average of 20 times.

Facebook study + power users + 20 to 30 percent of Facebook community

Facebook study + power users + 20 to 30 percent of Facebook community, The goody-two-shoes among us say it’s better to give than to receive. That’s not true for the average Facebook user, though.
A new study out Friday found that the average user of the world’s biggest online social network gets more than they give. That means more messages, more “likes” and more comments. Yes, even more “pokes.” Behind all that is Facebook’s relatively small group of “power users,” who do more than their share of tagging, liking and uploading. The report from the Pew Research Center’s Internet and American Life Project comes two days after Facebook filed for a $5 billion initial public offering of stock that could eventually value the company at $100 billion. Key to that mammoth valuation will be Facebook’s ability to convince advertisers they can make money from the billons of connections and interactions that people partake in on its website and beyond. Though Pew’s findings don’t address the commercial side of people’s activities, they shed important light on how people use the site and what they get out of it. The study is the product of Pew’s analysis of Facebook users’ activities in November 2010. It consisted of data that Facebook provided to Pew after 269 users gave their permission. Those users were identified through a random telephone survey about broader Internet issues.

Pew Study + Facebook Users Get More Than They Give
Pew Study + Facebook Users Get More Than They Give, Facebook study + more takers than givers. Facebook givers & takers, Facebook is made up of two kinds of people: people who give a lot, and people who get a lot. That is one of the findings of a recent report from the Pew Internet & American Life Project, which identified Facebook users in a national phone survey, asked their permission to examine their activity and then did the analysis. We take a look at what the survey revealed. Pew Internet and American life project

Facebook + 845 million members

Facebook + 845 million members, We’ve long worked with a statistic that about half of Facebook’s membership of into the site daily, but what about the rest of the 845 million monthly active users the company cites?
According to Facebook’s prospectus filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, a user doesn’t have to visit the site directly to be counted as active.
Simply like an article in a favorite newspaper, or post a message to the social network via Twitter, or share music with friends from Spotify, or touch any other third-party website that uses Facebook’s plugins, and the company considers you an active user.
Andrew Ross Sorkin of The New York Times questions the accuracy of Facebook’s tally, although he can only nail down a possible discrepancy of about 40 million, based on December data from the Nielsen Company. Some might call that outdated.

Dutch fliers pick seatmates Facebook

Dutch fliers pick seatmates Facebook,  Dutch fliers pick seatmates Facebook – KLM Royal Dutch airlines plan to let fliers pick their seatmates from Facebook.

Flying alone is like playing seatmate lottery, with the certainty that you are going to be sandwiched between two complete strangers. But one airline is trying to change that, by putting travellers in control of finding seatmates who share common interests.

Next time you’re flying from Houston to Amsterdam, KLM will have an extra incentive for you. Starting next year, the airline will give passengers the option to use Facebook and LinkedIn to choose seatmates.

Combined with complimentary wine at each meal and digestifs after each meal, this could be an easy ticket into that exclusive mile high club. Obvious perks such as choosing a seat next to that Ryan Gosling or Adriana Lima lookalike aside, we can think of other ways this can work advantageously.
