Allred represented Melanie Brown in 2007 when the former "Scary" Spice brought a paternity suit against her ex-boyfriend Eddie Murphy.

Allred and Brown took Murphy to court, where a paternity test proved that the comedian was indeed the baby’s father. Murphy subsequently admitted paternity and indicated that he would reimburse Brown for the cost of the pregnancy.
