Man has 6,000 Barbie dolls-33-year-old Jian Yang of Singapore freely admits that to know him you’d never guess that he is quite the doll aficionado. However, at the young age of 33, he has been collecting Barbie Dolls for twenty years and spent a fortune of $500,000 purchasing 6,000 Barbie dolls in addition to 3,000 other types of dolls.

The vast collection is adorned across all three walls in the main house of his residence. Additionally, he sportsdolls across the shelves of his personal study and inside of nine mirrored cabinets.

Yang’s family has had plenty of time to come to terms with his self-described “crazy obsession”. It has led him to pursue a career in consumer trends which includes toys. He works as the strategy director for the global company Omnicom Media Group. Both due to his employment and his personal madness over Barbie dolls, Yang has become an expert in Barbie doll trends.

Yang admits the ubiquitous doll is now waning in popularity. Toy manufacturer Mattel has enjoyed a long run with the doll which was first introduced in 1959 and has sold over one billion dolls since. However, Yang says “ugly” or “monster” dolls are now the hot trend and sales of Barbie dolls continue to slide.
