911 call ends with Keith Vidal dead--IT ALL started with a distressed call to emergency services. Keith Vidal, 18, was in the grips of a schizophrenic episode and he wasn't taking his medication.

"He's not doing very good. You've got to get him someplace," the man's stepfather said to a 911 operator. "He wants to fight his mother ... She's scared to death of him right now."

Police were deployed but it did not take long for everything to go pear-shaped, CNN reports.

Just 70 seconds after a third police officer turned up to the family home, Mr Vidal, 18, was shot dead.

The family claim the officer turned an improving situation into a disaster that will hurt for the rest of their lives.

"Everything was going good," said stepfather Mark Wilsey, according to WWAY.

"Then this fat cop from Southport walks in the room, walks around the corner, says, 'We don't have time for this. Tase that kid now. Let's get him out of here'."

Mr Vidal's stepfather said officers pinned the teenager to the ground after the tasing when one of the officers said, "We don't have time for this" and shot his stepson.

A police officer has been placed on administrative leave but it is not known whether he was the man in question. The family is demanding answers.

"See this kid? This is my son," mother Mary told reporters, holding up a picture of the boy. "This is my flesh and blood that they murdered."
